South Africa will for the first time host the BRICS Summit from 26 to 27 March 2013 at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC). With delegates from Brazil, Russia, India and China attending to discuss development and cooperation between the countries, Woodford Car Hire is proud to welcome the visitors to Durban’s shores and provide a guide for what delegates might enjoy in the province before and after the summit.
Airport
Visitors are likely to get their first taste of KwaZulu-Natal when landing at the iconic King Shaka International Airport, some 35km’s from Durban’s city centre where the summit will be held. With more than 50 stores – including 15 food outlets – you can take a breather and grab a meal before visiting Woodford Car Hire’s airport branch to collect your vehicle.
Car Hire
Woodford Car Hire is the largest privately-owned car hire company in South Africa, and offers the highest level of service to customers with the personal touch of a family-run business. Delegates have a wide array of vehicles to choose from – Woodford’s fleet ranges from its exclusive, luxury cars to mid-range and off-road vehicles. The company’s dedicated staff will advise you on the best options and rates, depending on your preferences and the places you would like to visit during your stay in Durban.
Tourist Attractions
KwaZulu-Natal provides innumerable avenues for exploration, with the Kingdom of the Zulu providing rich historical and natural sites to visit, including pristine beaches along the coast and scenic game reserves featuring the Big Five. The province is also home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites – the uKhahlamba/Drakensberg Park, and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, both less than 300km’s from Durban. If you’re keen on venturing out to visit these sites, Woodford Car Hires offers a Nissan Navara 4X4 at R660 a day with 100 free km’s, or if you’re travelling in a larger group, a 10-seater minibus for R733 a day, also with 100 free km’s.
If you’re looking to wind down after the summit and enjoy the assortment cuisine, urban locations and shopping malls the city has to offer, a Mercedes C180, BMW 320 or a BMW X1 at R550 a day (100 km’s free) might be more your speed. Visit uShaka Marine World – which houses Africa’s largest aquarium and a water park – on the edge of Durban’s famous Golden Mile, Wilson's Wharf on the Victoria Embankment and the vibrant market centre of the Warwick Triangle, all a stone’s throw from the ICC. The cosmopolitan city offers an equally lively nightlife. Enjoy “Music by the Lake” at the Botanical Gardens on select evenings, or visit one of the many theatres or shopping malls in and around the city for entertainment after sunset.
Going further
Delegates might very well want to venture further than KwaZulu-Natal after being charmed by all the province has to offer, and Woodford Car Hire would be only too happy to cater for a long drive – either down the coast toward Cape Town or deeper inland.
